Choose a mount for the terrain you want to explore, then check its unlock route against the content your account owns. This overview links to the detailed requirements rather than treating one story step as the whole unlock.
Compare the travel options
- Raptor: horizontal leaps.
- Springer: high vertical jumps.
- Skimmer: travel over water, with underwater abilities available through mastery progression.
- Jackal: short teleports and sand portals with the required mastery.
- Griffon: aerial movement using dives and flaps.
- Roller Beetle: fast ground travel and drifting.
- Warclaw: movement in PvE and WvW, with different mechanics between modes.
- Skyscale: hovering flight with a flight meter.
- Siege Turtle: a two-player mount with driver and passenger roles.
Unlocks are more than story checkpoints
Griffon requires Path of Fire story completion and Open Skies collections. Roller Beetle involves Living World Season 4 Episode 3 and collections. Skyscale has Living World Season 4 and Secrets of the Obscure routes. Several other mounts also have alternative unlock paths.
Use the official wiki acquisition table and open the individual mount page before committing resources. Mount skins change appearance; they do not replace unlocking the mount itself.
