GUILD WARS 2 GOLD GUIDES
Understand Trading Post fees, estimate the gold you keep from a sale, and explore my Guild Wars 2 gold-making and legendary weapon video archive.
GW2 gold making: start with the net return
A sale price is not the amount you keep. Before choosing a farming route or selling crafted items, separate the coins you receive, the materials you sell and the costs you pay. Use the calculator below to estimate a Trading Post sale, then explore the original videos by topic.

GW2 Trading Post fee calculator
ArenaNet lists two seller fees: a 5% listing fee paid up front and a 10% exchange fee when the item sells. The listing fee is not refunded if you cancel. Read ArenaNet’s explanation of Trading Post fees.
Enter totals for the whole sale in gold, to the nearest silver (0.01 gold). For example, 2 gold 50 silver = 2.50. This calculator uses your numbers, not live market prices.
Example: a 10 gold sale has 0.50 gold in listing fees and 1 gold in exchange fees. That leaves 8.50 gold after both fees, or 1.50 gold after a 7 gold purchase cost.
Assumes the whole sale completes once at your entered price. Re-listing, partial fills and in-game copper rounding can change the result. Include earlier listing fees in “Other costs” if relevant. Confirm the actual fee preview in game.
How to compare a gold farming method
Try a short session before committing to a long grind. Record its duration, coins earned, saleable materials and costs such as keys or consumables. Keep account-bound rewards separate from immediately spendable gold. Compare methods using the same time window and the same price assumptions.
For example, if a session gives you 2 gold in coins and materials you actually sell for 10 gold, those sales leave about 8.50 gold after the standard Trading Post fees. Subtract 0.50 gold of costs and the total is 10 gold. That is a worked example, not a promised farming return.
Should I sell materials or keep them for a legendary?
Check the materials needed for your chosen item before selling. If you expect to buy them back later, compare that future purchase cost with what you would receive after fees today. Use the legendary crafting videos as a starting point and verify the current recipe in game.
Why can my gold per hour differ from a video?
Prices, group speed, unlocks and the rewards counted can differ. A headline may include materials rather than only wallet coins. Check what is included, subtract fees and costs, and use your own session time. The archive below keeps older videos available without presenting their historical figures as current results.
